Library Program Questionnaire: Maddock Community Library Library Program Questionnaire: Maddock Community Library
Maddock Community Library (Maddock, ND) is a local library project made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library. It has participated in the A.R.T. Library Program for more than 15 years.
A.R.T. Library Program Questionnaire gathers insights from librarians and publishers within the Program's distribution network to reconsider and reflect on what it means to make art books public today.
- How would you define the main role the library plays in your community?
The library is a central spot for young families to gather, interested book club members, and community groups. It provides information and opportunities for lifelong learning.
- How would you define your responsibility as a librarian?
My responsibility as director is to keep the selection of books relevant and interesting and informative as well as run the programs we offer.
- When was the first time you participated in the A.R.T. Library Program? Do you participate yearly?
it must have been over 15 years ago. We have generally participated in the ART program every year.
- What do art books provide that other books might not? Why is it important for your library to make art books available?
The books provided by the A.R.T. Library Program are beyond what we could afford or access on our own. They offer a window into an art world that is unfamiliar to most of our rural community.
Priscilla Backstrom, Director of Maddock Community Library (Maddock, ND), responded to this questionnaire in 2024.
