A.R.T. announces Walid Raad as the 2021 D.U.C. Honoree!

Walid Raad, Appendix 153, 2019.
Art Resources Transfer is delighted to announce Walid Raad as the sixth-annual D.U.C. Library Program honoree.
A.R.T. is celebrating Raad by distributing 23,000 free art books to 600 public libraries, schools, and prisons in his name. A.R.T. will also produce Reading Resources: Walid Raad, an online teaching guide that uses art making as a model of literacy, sharing the artist’s methods and ideas among students and readers.
Walid Raad’s work animates and interrogates the gaps between experience, documentation, and recollection, surfacing the geopolitics of writing history while probing art’s capacity to re-tell and reimagine. He is the sixth annual D.U.C. Honoree, following Studio K.O.S., Kara Walker, Roni Horn, Glenn Ligon, and Martha Rosler. We are proud to create more egalitarian access to the arts by collaborating with artists whose work is committed to literacy and the printed book.
