A.R.T. announces Adrian Piper as its 2025 Artist Honoree

A.rt R.esources T.ransfer is thrilled to announce Adrian Piper as our eleventh annual artist honoree.

In 2025, A.R.T. is honoring Adrian Piper by distributing 25,000 free art books to 625 public libraries, schools, and prisons in her name. A.R.T. will also produce the online teaching guide "Reading Resources: Adrian Piper," sharing her methods and ideas among students and readers.

Adrian Piper is a first-generation conceptual artist and analytic philosopher whose highly influential practice interrogates subjecthood, agency, and identity in socio-political and metaphysical contexts. Drawing on sources spanning the Civil Rights Movement and post-Kantian and Vedic philosophy, her works have established a ground-breaking model for interrogating issues of race, gender, and xenophobia with unfailing rigor and wit.

As A.R.T.'s 2025 honoree, Adrian Piper follows Julie Ault, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Luis Camnitzer, Walid Raad, Studio K.O.S., Kara Walker, Roni Horn, Lawrence Weiner, Glenn Ligon, and Martha Rosler.
